Lawrence Fine Art

Name : Etsuko Ichikawa
Biography :

Ichikawa's "Traces" are really dances with fire, created as she moves left to right and back again across a single sheet of paper or many sheets holding a pontil of molten glass.  A native of  Japan, her works have a calligraphic element to them.  Ichikawa herself terms her work "a continuing investigation of what lies between the ephemeral and the eternal."  We can sense the spiritual in these ethereal works created from the violent interaction of fire on paper.

Ichikawa is the recipient of a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant.  Her work can be found in numerous corporate collections.  She has exhibited most recently at Waterhouse and Dodd, NYC.
