Lawrence Fine Art

Name : Suzanne LaFleur
Biography :

NYC-based artist LaFleur paints in a highly emotive, expressionist style.  Her lyrical abstractions painted in pastel are exuberant explorations of line, color and motion. Her work--at least initially--brings to mind Joan Mitchell, but whereas Mitchell's work can seem, well, bitchy, LaFleur's work comes from a different, happier place.  Must one always be angst-driven to be a great artist?

LaFleur studied at the Art Students League.  After marrying, she moved to the Middle East where she lived and painted for many years.  She was presented with the Flora Giffuni Award  for Pastel by the National Arts Club in 2013 and awarded the Art Spirit Foundation Gold Medal for Pastel also by the National Arts Club in 2014.
