Lawrence Fine Art

Name : Paul Jenkins
Biography :

 1923-2012

Paul Jenkins was an American Abstract Expressionist painter, a contemporary of New York School artists Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko, among others.  Jenkins was known for the way he manipulated paint on canvas, allowing it to billow, roll, pool and bleed into gorgeous, almost psychodelic, compositions.  Better known in Europe than in the U.S. (although that is changing), Jenkins received numerous museum retrospectives during his life and his work is held in numerous collections.

These early silk screen prints come from the estate of Michael Knigin, who owned Chiron Press, Jenkins' original printer.
