1882-1971

Largely self-taught, Rothbort was known for his impressionist paintings of Brooklyn and Manhattan as well as renderings of shtetl life in Europe. These renderings became the visual material for “Fiddler on the Roof”. Exhibited: Society of Independent Artists, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Barzansky Gallery Manhattan. His works are held in several major museums including the Smithsonian.
