Lawrence Fine Art

Name : Chauncey Foster Ryder
Biography :

1868-1949

Leading American “Tonalist” painter. Subject of recent retrospective at Spanierman Gallery. Exhibited: Macbeth Gallery. Completed one of the twelve panels for “Miss Florence” Griswold. Member: National Academy. Ryder’s work can tend toward the somber, but we find this New Hampshire scene’s coloring, especially the use of greenish-blue, to be enjoyable, yet reflective. Painting is in original, untouched condition. Canvas has been religned. Original frame.
